From the moment I met Kaila and Derek, I knew their wedding would be something truly unforgettable!!! They were full of love, laughter, and simply just so excited to celebrate with the people who matter most to them. Their vision was clear from the start: to throw an epic celebration their guests would never forget. And boy, did they deliver!!! Every detail was carefully thought out, and the entire day was a perfect reflection of who they are.
Set on a beautiful summer day at The Ranch in Laguna Beach, the festivities began with a lively “Giving the Bride Away” ceremony. With a Zaffa band leading the way, the groomsmen had to charm (and bribe!) the bridesmaids to see the bride—a playful and energetic tradition that set the tone for the entire day.
As guests arrived for the main ceremony, they were greeted with champagne and a tequila cart making its way down the aisle (yes, really!) because what better way to kick off a celebration. The processional began with “Stole the Show” by Kygo, a perfect choice that set the tone for the entire evening. The ceremony was romantic and full of emotion, with a harpist and violinist creating a beautiful ambiance as Kaila and Derek exchanged personal vows. Surrounded by a candlelit, floral-lined wooden aisle, the setting was nothing short of breathtaking.
Cocktail hour kept the party vibes going strong. Guests were greeted by a “Ring the Bell, Take a Seat” seating chart, a chic 360° bar, and a jaw-dropping raw bar ice sculpture featuring their sweet fur babies, Mazzi and Kygo. But the highlight, each couple received a custom-engraved bottle of wine, bottled by Kaila’s family and then personalized by the incredibly talented Cat Lauren Calligraphy. It was such a thoughtful and personal favor that guests absolutely loved!!
The dinner reception was nothing short of dreamy- soft, romantic, and glowing. The head table featured a wooden truss draped in chandeliers and candlelight, creating the most beautiful setting as guests dined and enjoyed a live musical duo.
After dinner, the celebration moved indoors for formal dances and then… the party officially began. From the espresso martini ice luge to glowing cowgirl hats and light-up glow sticks, the dance floor was absolutely electric. A delicious late-night snack was the perfect final touch as guests danced the night away. I’ve truly never seen a couple have so much fun at their own wedding, Kaila and Derek lived every moment to the fullest, and it was such a joy to witness.
Planning alongside Kaila, Derek, and her sweet mom was an absolute dream. We laughed through every meeting, text thread, and design decision, and I’m so grateful for the friendship we’ve formed along the way. It was an honor to be part of such a magical day.
