When it comes to weddings, there’s a certain charm in intimate gatherings that simply cannot be replicated in grand ballrooms or extravagant venues. As a planner who often works with large guest counts, I was beyond excited to design and plan something more intimate. Jordan and Brett’s wedding in the backyard of the bride’s family home showcased the true magic that can be woven into such an intimate setting. Picture this – a backyard transformed into an enchanting garden, where their love was celebrated amidst the twinkle of 900 hanging tealight candles and lush greenery hanging from the ceiling, creating an ethereal atmosphere that would rival any fairy tale.
As the wedding date approached, the weather forecast seemed less than promising. However, the couple’s determination to celebrate in the family home prevailed, and we made the decision to tent. Little did they know, this decision would add an unexpected touch of romance to their already magical day. Guests were welcomed into the transformed backyard, where the atmosphere was nothing short of enchanting. The cocktail hour space felt intimate and elegant, with florals by Three Petals Design welcoming guests and drapery by Impulse Production elevated the clear tent. A grand champagne tower framed the space and added a touch of playfulness to the romance. The reception space was a filled with greenery and flickering candlelight, and three grand chandeliers hung from the ceiling, casting a warm glow upon the gathering, and making the family home feel like a secret garden.
The guest list was comprised of 60 friends and family from all corners of the glob, and toasts were hilarious and personal (Jordan’s dad even did a bit of a roast!!). Live music played a pivotal role in elevating the atmosphere to new heights. Renowned saxophonist Tyler Varnell graced the occasion, serenading the guests with soulful melodies that kept the vibes high and the dance floor alive.
Attention to detail was a hallmark of Jordan and Brett’s celebration, and as a planner, this was a dream! From custom champagne charms to personalized menus and gold-dusted monograms on the buttercake dessert, every element spoke volumes about the couple’s commitment to making their day uniquely theirs. From the invitations to the late night espresso martinis, the gorgeous monogram made by Kate Wiseman Creative made every element special. The custom menu complete with drink pairings for each part of the night, showcased a culinary experience that was both exquisite and personalized. TGIS Catering executed every element perfectly.
As the night unfolded, it was evident that this backyard wedding was one that won’t be forgotten. The magical ambiance, the global gathering of loved ones, the live saxophone melodies, and the intricate details made it one of my favorite events to date. The bride’s family home had been transformed into a space filled with love and enchantment, and it was truly a night to remember.
